Double row deep groove ball bearings correspond, in their design and operation, to a pair of single row deep groove ball bearings. They are robust in operation, requiring little maintenance, can operate at high speeds and accommodate radial and axial loads in both directions. They are slightly wider than single row bearings of the same bore and outside diameter but have a considerably higher load carrying capacity. This type of bearing is characterized by its simple design and versatility, making it one of the most widely used components in mechanical engineering. Featuring a single row of balls that run along deep raceways, these bearings are capable of handling both radial and axial loads, ensuring reliable performance in a variety of applications.

Double row deep groove ball bearings are very suitable for bearing arrangements where the load carrying capacity of a single row bearing is inadequate. For the same bore and outside diameter, double row bearings are slightly wider than single row bearings in the 62 and 63 series, but have a considerably higher load carrying capacity.

Double row deep groove ball bearings are only available as open bearings (without seals or shields). For bearing selection and technical details refer to the product table and set the filter "Design" to "Double row"

Installation Manual for Double Row Deep Groove Ball Bearings

1. Pre-Installation Preparation

• Cleaning:
  Wipe the shaft, housing, and mating surfaces with lint-free cloths to remove dust, oil, or burrs.

• Dimensional Tolerance Check:
  Verify the tolerance compatibility between shaft diameter/housing bore and bearing inner/outer rings (transition or interference fit recommended).

• Tool Preparation:
  Hydraulic nut, induction heater (heating temperature ≤120°C), torque wrench, clearance gauge.

2. Installation Methods

• Press-Fit Method:

  1. Align the bearing inner ring with the shaft shoulder without tilting.

  2. Apply uniform pressure on the inner ring face via a press (never apply force on outer ring or rollers).

  3. Post-installation check: Ensure smooth rotation without abnormal noise.

• Thermal Mounting:

  1. Heat the bearing to 80-120°C (oil bath or induction heating; open flame prohibited).

  2. Quickly push the bearing to the shaft position and cool naturally.

• Tapered Shaft Mounting:

  1. Use lock nuts (e.g., KM-type) to axially press the inner ring.

  2. Tighten the nut to manufacturer-specified torque and install anti-loosening washer.

3. Clearance Adjustment

• Ensure axial preload meets design requirements. Measure axial clearance with a dial indicator (recommended: 0.02-0.05mm).

• Interference fit may reduce clearance; adjust via calculated compensation.

4. Lubrication

• Fill 30-50% of bearing space with high-performance grease (e.g., lithium or polyurea base).

• For high-speed applications (>60% limit speed), oil-mist lubrication is recommended.

5. Sealing & Protection

• Inspect seals (contact/non-contact type) for integrity. Orient lip seals toward contamination sources.

• Perform no-load test run post-installation; monitor temperature rise (ΔT ≤40°C) and vibration (≤ISO 10816).

6. Prohibited Actions

• Never strike bearing rings or rolling elements directly.

• Avoid prolonged heating >120°C to prevent annealing.

• Do not mix incompatible lubricants.
