Product Description
The inner ring, with rollers and cage, can be mounted separately from the outer ring.
These separable and interchangeable components facilitate mounting, dismounting and maintenance.
By mounting one single row tapered roller bearing against another and applying a preload, a rigid bearing application can be achieved.

Installation Guide for Tapered Roller Bearings
1. Pre-Installation Preparation

Cleaning:
Thoroughly clean the shaft, housing, and mating surfaces using lint-free cloths to remove contaminants such as dust, oil, or burrs. -
Inspection:
Verify the dimensional tolerances of the shaft and housing to ensure compatibility with the bearing's inner and outer rings (interference fit recommended for the inner ring, transition fit for the outer ring). -
Tool Preparation:
Prepare necessary tools, including hydraulic nuts, induction heaters (heating temperature ≤120°C), torque wrenches, and dial indicators for clearance measurement.
2. Installation Methods

Press-Fit Method:

Align the inner ring (cone) with the shaft shoulder, ensuring no tilting occurs.

Apply uniform pressure on the inner ring using a press or hydraulic tool. Avoid applying force directly to the outer ring (cup) or rollers.

After installation, check for smooth rotation and ensure there is no abnormal noise or binding.

Thermal Mounting:

Heat the inner ring to 80-120°C using an induction heater or oil bath (open flame heating is strictly prohibited).

Quickly mount the heated inner ring onto the shaft and allow it to cool naturally.

Tapered Shaft Mounting:

For tapered shafts, use a lock nut (e.g., KM-type nut) to axially press the inner ring against the shaft shoulder.

Tighten the lock nut to the manufacturer-specified torque value and secure it with a locking device (e.g., tab washer).

3. Clearance Adjustment

Tapered roller bearings require proper axial clearance or preload adjustment to ensure optimal performance.

Measure the axial clearance using a dial indicator. Adjust the lock nut to achieve the recommended clearance (typically 0.02-0.05mm for standard applications).

For preloaded applications, follow the manufacturer's specifications to achieve the desired preload value.
4. Lubrication

Apply a high-quality lubricant (grease or oil) suitable for the operating conditions.

Fill 30-50% of the bearing's free space with grease for standard applications. For high-speed or high-temperature conditions, consider oil lubrication or oil-mist systems.

Ensure the lubricant is compatible with the bearing material and operating environment.
5. Sealing and Protection

Inspect and install appropriate seals (contact or non-contact type) to prevent contamination.

Ensure the sealing lip is oriented toward the contamination source.

Perform a no-load test run after installation to verify proper operation. Monitor temperature rise (ΔT ≤40°C) and vibration levels (≤ISO 10816 standards).
6. Prohibited Actions

Never strike the bearing rings or rollers directly with a hammer or other tools.

Avoid overheating the bearing during thermal mounting (maximum temperature: 120°C).

Do not mix incompatible lubricants or use contaminated grease.
